Day Five

And we are off - another day on the road. But today we did not focus on distance so much because we finally crossed the California state line. Instead, we went to Joshua Tree National Park and had so much fun exploring and enjoying the great outdoors.

This is a Joshua tree. I know Kathryn, it does resemble a palm tree but we are not out of the desert yet.

Although I enjoyed the scenery, those plants have prinkly needles that I can't seem to escape. Cacti are still everywhere and they try to disguise themselves. There are tons of varieties.

In order to avoid the spines of the cacti, I started running and climbing on these huge rocks. Dad actually caught me and then, we had to figure out how in the world we were going to get down.

While hot and tired, I got down from those huge rocks and met my first two new Californian friends - Larry the lizard and Alvin the chipmunk.

Mom, Dad and I enjoyed the beautiful scenery and being outside of the car for a change.

How can anyone see this and question God's existence? I, a dog, know that only God could create such a gorgeous, diverse place (even if it does include cacti). Who would have thought that you could see snow-covered mountains while in the desert? Only God could have designed that.

  1. A spiney palm tree?!? Bummer- sorry, Sony girl. And who's that long-haired hippie CA guy with you & your mom? Your dad must be hanging his head out the window while you drive to encourage those locks to grow!
Have a good day- first full day in Cali!!
