Day 4 - Sea World

The next day of the vacation to San Diego was spent at Sea World, where everyone attended various shows and viewed different types of animals in their "natural" habitat. Mom especially loved the manatees, also known as "sea cows".

Can you believe an animal this large eats only plants? However, they eat up to 9% of their body weight per day. That is a lot of plants. When Mom and Dad saw them, they were eating lettuce and lots of it.

Everyone enjoyed the shark exhibit, where they walked through a glass tunnel surrounded by various types of sharks. Yikes!

Look at those teeth! That shark's mouth resembles Harrison's.

Aunt Allison and Uncle Mark were not afraid.

The first show everyone attended featured the dolphins.

Harrison enjoyed watching them jump up and make a big splash.

But, the killer whales made an even bigger splash

as they flipped and spun around in the air.

How can an animal this large jump that high? I, personally, am a good jumper but I do not weigh THAT much. They can weigh 3,000 - 5,000 pounds. I weigh 30 pounds.

Dad in particular enjoyed the show where seals and sea lions performed various tricks.

No one really knew what type of animal this is - any guesses? However, everyone agreed that it is not attractive. I guess we all can't be beautiful. Oh well, the ugly ones make us pretty ones look even better.

Mom loved watching the Beluga whales so much that she and Dad went through this exhibit twice. They look so graceful and peaceful swimming around.

How can you not love this face?

Don't you want to just curl up next to this cuddly bear? Maybe we should have it declawed first.

Marine animals were not the only ones at Sea World. Dogs, cats, ducks, and pigs were featured in one of the shows.

This dog walked like a human the entire time it was on stage. There is always one that has to show out, making the rest of us "normal" dogs look bad.

That night, everyone went out to eat at a nice seafood restaurant in celebration of Uncle Mark's birthday, which was in May.

The restaurant was located by the USS Midway, the longest serving Navy aircraft carrier of the 20th century and the largest ship in the world. There was also a memorial of Bob Hope singing to the soldiers in honor of the hundreds of performances he provided to lift their spirits while fighting for our freedom that we enjoy today.

That reminds me. Tomorrow is America's Birthday.
