Day Four

This road runner greeted us this morning saying "Happy St. Patrick's Day" in New Mexico, off I-10. Too bad he was not wearing any green, but his heart was in the right place. (I did not wear any green today either so I can relate to his dilemma.)

Here is the view that we saw most of the day in New Mexico and Arizona. The interstate basically runs parallel with a railroad track. Everytime we passed a train, I thought of my cousin, Harrison, since he loves trains. (Or maybe its his daddy who likes trains?)

Well, I hate to say it but we saw a sign that said Texas Canyon and immediately my heart sank just hearing the word "Texas". Once I got out of the car to take care of some business (which is quite difficult around here since there is no grass), I enjoyed looking around and climbing on top of some boulders to take in the scenery.
This is the one and only picture that you will see with me next to a cactus. Who knew that those things will stick the fool out of you? After the picture was taken, Mom noticed that I lifted my leg and thought that I might have stepped on something. She immediately picked me up and inspected my legs and feet. After she carried me to the car, she finally noticed that I had a cactus spine stuck in my forehead. She called Dad to pull it out and he noticed that I had another spine on the side of my nose. I plan to never get close to that thing again. It hurt!
Unfortunately, cacti are EVERYWHERE. They are all different colors, shapes, and sizes. Yet, they all have those spines that are ready to stick you when you least expect it.
While I slept in the car, Mom and Dad went to the Pima Air and Space Museum close to Tucson Arizona, where there were over 200 aircrafts. Mom and Dad asked if I wanted to go but I was ready for a long nap in the shade of the only tree in the parking lot. Maybe next time.

Mom and Dad were able to walk through the Air Force One that President Kennedy and President Johnson used. Dad looks pretty good standing next to that all important and impressive Presidental Seal. I wonder what it would be like to be the next Barney or Millie. Hey, isn't O'Bama looking for a dog? I am great with children!

While I am dreaming about living the high life, I hope that you all have sweet dreams too!

  1. Hey Sony - Did you challenge that roadrunner to a race? I bet you could win! Although that goofy bird can run 17 mph, I've seen you run faster, and you are a heck of a lot cuter! We are still missing you (and your Mom and Dad).

    Hugs and kisses,
    Grandmom & Granddad Broom

  2. Sorry you got stuck by a cactus, Sony- bet it hurt. Palm trees don't have spiney needles, so you should be safe in CA. Good luck heading into the mountains- keep a close eye on the car for mom & dad!!

  4. Hi Sony, Obama already has a grandma living at the white house, they don't need Sony girl. This mamaw needs Sony girl living with her. Tell Mom & Dad the offer still holds. When I come to see you, I am bringing a one way ticket for you.
    Love, Mamaw
