Day Three

I woke up this morning ready to face yet another full day in the state of Texas. We loaded the car and drove ALL DAY. At first, it was exciting because I got to see things that I did not even know existed such as wind farms and oil wells.

Then, the newness quickly wore off. It did not take long to realize that we were definitely in the middle of nowhere. I thought that the lake house was a desolate place - WRONG. There is nothing out here.

Out in the middle of nowhere, we saw this really nice home. Who in there right mind would say, "Hey, I think that I want to live here." My mom said that the next time I complain of boredom, she will remind me of true boredem, which would be living here. What do these people do all day? Where do they work, buy groceries or even gas? I am so glad that this is not where we are moving to!

We were so bored that you tend to notice every little thing, especially signs. In honor of my mom's PT friend, Erin, I listed some of the signs we saw today.

- Don't be a fool! Carpool!
- Maintain your vehicle (since there is NO ONE around to help you out)
- Oil change/mechanic 23 1/2 hour road service
- Welcome to Stanton, home of 3000 friendly people and a few old soreheads!

Ahhhh! Finally civilization. This is a picture of the city of El Paso, Texas. I was so glad to see shopping malls, restaurants, gas stations, and even billboards.

After a long day in the car, I am worn out. We are spending the night in Las Cruces, New Mexico and will be on the road again in the morning.

  1. Congrats on getting out of Texas!! Hopefully you can find some fun stops in New Mexico to break up the boredom. No tumbleweeds?
